General description
The Logistics Engineer works within the Logistics Department. The department is responsible for the efficient and effective transport of all materials and equipment required for projects and vessels, both external and internal.

Job objectives
Develop, implement, maintain and execute the processes for the efficient and effective transport of all materials and equipment required for projects and vessels.

With sufficient experience and knowledge gained (in depth or general) and proven capability in the field, the Logistics Engineer can expect to obtain the title of Senior Logistics Engineer.

Reporting lines
The Logistics Engineer reports directly to the Department Head Logistics. While working on specific projects, he/she will also report to the respective Project Manager and Vessel Manager.

General responsibilities
Conduct all activities and tasks in accordance with our clients corporate objectives;
Familiarise with and comply to our clients corporate management system (CMS);
Support and actively participate in the continuous improvement of our clients CMS within the scope of the / your job activities;
Promote a safe and healthy working environment for their employees and contractors working within all their premises;
Promote and support continuous improvement within the organization;
Identify and initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities;
Prevent problems from occurring via forward planning and procedures and solve problems when they do occur;
Maintain an up-to-date data base on developments in logistics;
Submit personal timesheets into the RTR/(Web)Solo system for approval on a weekly basis;
Ensure all personal documentation is up-to-date and valid, such as passport, seaman's booklet, medical certificate and offshore survival certificate.

Job specific tasks
Monitor the progress of the arranged transports and expedite as required;
Set up the logistics scenario for mobilisations in close co-operation with the Vessel Manager or delegate;
Assist the Vessel Manager or delegate where necessary;
Review contract documents and ensure the incorporation of requirements into project logistics documents and operations;
Evaluate the feasibility and economics of pipe haul scenarios on the basis of optimisation studies for alternative transportation units and load-out ports;
Prepare and review bid evaluations for logistics contracts;
Prepare the scopes of work for logistics contracts;
Prepare purchase orders (PO's) for logistics goods and services;
Evaluate the performance of logistics contractors and maintain the database up to date;
Prepare manifests and all other documentations required for the transportation of materials;
Prepare project specific logistics procedures, load-out schedules of materials or pipe, transport plans and calculations and other documents in order to make logistical services possible
Arrange the transport of all their' materials and equipment between the central depot and the clients' vessels and local supply bases;
Maintain contact with freight forwarders, expeditors, brokers and owners for logistics and other services;
Monitor the progress of the arranged transports and expedite as required;
Contribute in the preparation of contracts for vessels required for non-logistics services;
Administer contracts with all companies which provide logistics services to them;
Assist in the development and implementation of logistics processes, procedures and working practices;
Arrange on project location all facilities required for all logistical services and assist other disciplines;
Provide input and feedback to improve departmental standards, working methods and guidelines

Gestelde eisen

Authorities
Access to all logistics files for the project to which he/she is assigned;
Approve PO’s in accordance with the authorisation matrix;
Negotiate with agents and all other companies with regard to the transport, storage and handling;
Held to procedures and will not act outside his competence and scope, unless permission has been given by the Department Head Logistics.

Education level and training
Logistics Engineer:
MSc / BSc degree in Logistics, Maritime Officer, Offshore Engineering, or equivalent.

Logistics Engineer BOYS:
MBO degree in Logistics.

Experience
Relevant experience would be an advantage but is not considered a prerequisite;
Experience with Microsoft Office;
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably Oracle.
The numbers of years experience determines the seniority of this position.

Other requirements
