Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics is looking for a full-time:

Transport Planner
Location: Rotterdam

Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics transport network spans all of Europe. We offer an optimal combination of short sea, road, rail and barge services to deliver a reliable, sustainable and cost effective transport solution. Our door-to-door service integrates collection, shipment and delivery into a seamless transport solution. Besides Door-to-Door services Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics also offers Quay-to-Quay and feeder services. This service offers customers the possibility to use Samskip's extensive shipping network with their own equipment. Tank operators, bulk operators and deepsea lines benefit from the fixed and regular sailings across Europe.

As a Transport Planner you are responsible for making the best possible combinations of the inbound and outbound transports, whilst guaranteeing excellent service to our customers. You will efficiently make use of the different modalities and allocate the available trucks to the planned transports while striving to make use of each truck. You will provide suppliers with necessary information, follow-up the daily planning, find solutions and adequately inform Customer Services of any changes. You will follow all customs and dangerous goods formalities and accurately administrate all transport related costs. You will log haulage failures, find the root causes and initiate actions for corrective actions to solve service failures.

The role requires complex planning and the ability to take numerous factors into consideration. You should be commercially focused and be able to form strong relationships with suppliers, customers and internal teams. You will have an analytical approach to your work with the ability to problem solve efficiently whilst maintaining accuracy and have a working knowledge of transport regulations. We expect you to highlight and discuss opportunities for efficiency gains and to constantly search for alternative solutions. You see the broader impact of your work within the organisation. You are a driven and motivated person that gets things done. You stay optimistic when faced with obstacles and quickly adapt to changing circumstances. You are able to challenge conventional way of thinking and turn creative ideas into practical applications.

The position is full-time. You will work from Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 17.00 hours. In this position you will be required to be on standby shifts during the evenings and weekend once a month.

Gestelde eisen

The right candidate:

• Relevant experience as a Transport Planner, ideally gained within a transport firm.
• Spoken and written Dutch and English.
• Spoken German.
• PC skills must include competent use of e-mail, Word, Excel and the web.
• Well-developed communication skills.
• Ability to handle stress and remain calm.
• Able to actively listen to others in general.
• Skilled problem solving and complaints handling.
• Ability to manage own work and to balance conflicting priorities.
• Professional, team and service oriented, flexible and proactive attitude.
• Ability to thrive with multiple and often unforeseen tasks.
• Personal presentation: smart and presentable.

Samskip offers a market conform annual salary that includes holiday allowance and 13th month, 28 holiday days, pension scheme and travel allowance home to work. You will work in a modern office environment.
